In our department, we teach French and Spanish to all S1 and S2 pupils. In S3, pupils can then opt for French, Spanish, German or even choose 2 languages: French/Spanish or French/German. The Modern Languages teachers endeavour to aspire the pupils at opening their minds to other languages and cultures. They encourage all pupils to work to the best of their ability and to improve their self-confidence through their learning of foreign languages.

Normandy Trip

Chateau du Molay

War Museum

Mont St Michel

The Modern Languages trip to Normandy, France for S3 and S4 pupils studying French. The party stayed at the beautiful Chateau du Molay and explored various aspects of the area - seeing the dramatic beaches where the WW2 D-day landing occured and changed the outcome of the war as well as visiting the war museum with its 360 degrees cinema screen. We visited the beautiful and unique Bayeux tapestry which represents the invasion of William the Conqueror. The amazing trip also took us to the Mont St Michel, world heritage island which is dominated by its 11th century abbey and its quaint little streets. On our way back to Britain we made a short stop at Honfleur, beautiful harbour town, for a few last photo shoots of picturesque Normandy.
